The Edge
46Walk me to the edge
Where life will meet oblivion
Where everyone can come and see
the end to all we've done
Take me to the shore
Where I can pay the fare
Where a boat will come collect my soul
That you and I won't share
I've seen the sights of the greatest man
On the edge of where your heart began
The pulse will flow
But we both know
That it never should have been
Yet as mine breaks
The pain I'll take
And walk the edge again
Guide me from from the light
Where tunnels go forever deep
Where I must go, but you must stay
Since I'm not yours to keep
Throw me to the pit
Where lions do as they will do
Where flesh and blood mean more to them
Then they ever did to you
But I've seen the sights of the greatest man
On the edge of where your touch began
Your soft caress
But I confess
To rules we break and bend
Yet I still stand
Hand in hand
And I'd walk the edge again
And here before us lies
A canvas of goodbyes
to cover up the welcome
We always tried to hide
But colors always fade
And I never did obey
The tacit laws of love
No matter what their shade
For I've seen the sights of the greatest man
On the edge of where your feelings ran
They claim to care
But I'm aware
How you would just pretend
But when when you're gone
I will move on
And walk the edge again
